03/06/07--H.E. Cummins III, one of several former U.S. attorneys who was asked to resign last year by the Bush administration, during the Senate Judiciary hearing on their dismissals. Both the House and Senate Judiciary panels are investigating the dismissal of eight U.S. attorneys and their replacement by interim appointees who can serve indefinitely and do not require Senate confirmation.
