Former first lady Betty Ford waits at the top of the steps to the U.S. House of Representatives waiting to escort the remains of her husband, former U.S. President Gerald R. Ford, into the U.S. Capitol Rotunda on December 30, 2006 in Washington, DC. Ford will lie in state in the Rotunda of the capitol until January 2, 2007 when his remains will travel to Grand Rapids, Michigan, where he will be laid to rest at his presidential library.
