WASHINGTON, DC - Jan. 27: House Republican leaders during a news conference after House GOP members met with President Barack Obama on an economic stimulus plan. Left to right are: House Minority Leader John A. Boehner, R-Ohio, House Minority Whip Eric Cantor, R-Va., and House GOP Conference Chairman Mike Pence, R-Ind., and House GOP Conference Vice Chairwoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers, R-Wash. House Republican leaders, who earlier blasted the $825 billion stimulus package the House is about to tackle, emerged from the meeting praising his willingness to consider their ideas for changing it. Their Senate counterparts, always less vociferous in their attacks on the plan, also welcomed Obama's efforts to court the minority. He met with them for nearly an hour after a 75-minute session with House GOP members. The president said, "I recognize we're not going to get 100 percent support but I think everyone felt good that I came here." (Photo by Scott J. Ferrell/Congressional Quarterly)
