WASHINGTON, DC - Oct. 29: House Ways and Means Chairman Charles B. Rangel, D-N.Y., House Energy Chairman Henry A. Waxman, D-Calif., Rep. Frank Pallone Jr., D-N.J., middle with blue striped tie, Rep. Xavier Becerra, D-Calif, far right, and other members applaud long-time health care reform advocate Rep. John D. Dingell, D-Mich., during an event on the West Front of the U.S. Capitol unveiling the long-awaited House Democratic health care overhaul package, known as the "Affordable Health Care for America Act." The nearly 2,000-page legislation (HR 3962) is expected to be on the House floor late next week. Early indications were that Democrats across the ideological spectrum were lining up behind the main health care measure, which was assembled by Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., and her team. Republicans, as expected, uniformly denounced the legislation. Not a single GOP member is expected to vote for it. (Photo by Scott J. Ferrell/Congressional Quarterly)
