06/15/06--Rep. William J. Jefferson, D-La., talks to the media after speaking to the House Democratic caucus to urge his colleagues to allow him to remain on the House Ways and Means Committee. Jefferson has repelled demands from Democratic leaders that he step down from his committee assignment while the FBI carries out a bribery investigation focusing on his activities.
